  • Hi there.

On my AMX, the lights don’t work.
Weirdly, as shown in the video which I’ve uploaded to YouTube, when they are turned OFF with the controller, the front light strobes / flashes.
When I turn the lights ON with the controller, the front light turns off!!!!

The back light doesn’t work at all, anyone have any ideas?
I’ve triple checked the wiring is the same as the tutorial, it is!!

    Thanks in advance, David

  • Hi @davidwayman -- someone else had strobing that was a wiring issue. Can you try unplugging completely the rear at the connector in the seat tube (not just at the light) and see what happens. I.e. does the front light exhibit the same behaviour?

  • Hi CJM
    Thanks for the quick reply.
I’ve just disconnected the rear from the seat tube and the problem still persists.
It actually strobes / flashes even when the controllers turned off :-(

  • Hi @davidwayman - Sorry this is like 20 questions (!) but trying to figure out what is going on. If you disconnect the display (i.e. unplug it) is the front light still coming on (i.e. with battery in and power on)?

  • Hi yes I disconnected the display (hadn’t thought of that), and with the battery turned on, it’s still strobing!!

Please do ask as many questions as possible, it’s the last thing to fix towards having an amazing bike!!!

  • So @davidwayman -- I think I know the problem. At some point the + and - cables in the lighting circuit must have touched each other whilst the battery was in circuit. That short circuit instigates the behaviour you have described. I don't know how to correct it though since it seems to do something to the control circuit. Next task is to find a fix. I think you should get enjoying the bike without using the integrated lights for now. I will contact support and see what can be done. Bike is amazing. I am riding mine ... a lot.

  • Thank you so much for your attention CJM.
I went out on her yesterday and I am in love!!!

I assume the short circuit is why the rear light isn’t working too.
Let’s hope support know of a fix.

  • Hi @davidwayman think we are creeping towards a light solution. Did some more investigation and there is a separate controller for the lights. Seems that can blow if there is a wiring fault. So looks like a case of replacing that controller. Not a huge component but maybe a fiddly job. So investigation continues. Hopefully will be able to post a ‘how to’ guide sometime soon.

  • Thank you, I’ll keep a look out for that, your help is most appreciated!!!!

  • @davidwayman Just to echo what @cjm1066 said, there are a couple of AMX owners with this issue. Have you checked the pins within the rear light connector are fully inserted into the connector and aren't at risk of being loose and coming into contact with the inside of the seattube?

  • Hello Jack, yes I have triple checked the rear light connectors and they are installed as designed with no issues (apart from not working).
    Thanks for checking in

  • Gol:
I have this problem too. Do you your speed and odometer work fine ?

Hi Gol, no I've not had those problems, just the issue with the light, glad to see you got it sorted though. Now we wait for a solution to the lights, hope its not to long as its beginning to get dark early!!!

  • @gol @davidwayman have been working with support @jack Have the solution! You will need a new light controller module (sounds big but isn’t) and a bit of a wrestle to fix it. I will be posting this weekend when I get some time. In meantime I suggest you contact support to request a module. Hopefully they have some available.

  • @gol @davidwayman fix is now posted here https://analogmotion.com/community/forums/forums/5092-amx-technical-discussion/topics/19747-strobing-lights-fixed. Get support to send you a new light controller module. Replacement doesn't require specialist tools -- just a bit of patience and persistence to tease the wires out.
